The main objective of reCANet is to advance the SI-AT region’s circular economy for composites by establishing a durable collaborative network, empowering over 15 SMEs with advanced knowledge, and co-developing CAN-composite innovations with at least 6 enterprises, thereby fostering resource efficiency and circular practices.

The i³Sense project is revolutionising the functionality and reliability of load-bearing components made from wood and natural fibers. With innovative, invisibly integrated sensors, we explore critical parameters such as humidity, mechanical stress, and temperature to enhance the lifespan and performance of bio-based materials in the construction, automotive, and sports industries.

As part of the recently approved ReThinkWood research project from the FFG’s Talente regional funding programme, topics relating to the use of lignocellulosic residues and raw materials will be addressed.

EMPHASIS is a European project funded under the HORIZON-CL4-2022-RESILIENCE-01-24 (Novel materials for supercapacitor energy storage) call in the HORIZON-RIA action. The EMPHASIS project focuses on developing next-generation supercapacitors (SCs) optimised for consumer use.

In the project IEA Bioenergy Task 42 “Biorefineries in the Bioeconomy of the Future” Wood K plus, tbw research GesmbH and the Energy Institute at the Johannes Kepler University Linz together coordinate the networking of biorefinery actors.

The idea of using fungal mycelium as a binding agent for lignocellulosic materials is not new. There are currently numerous approaches, research groups and companies around the world working on this exciting topic. Wood K plus has also been working on this issue in the field of solid wood and wood composites for some time, pursuing various ideas and exchanging information with different corporate partners.

The project WOOD4ALL impressively demonstrates that technological innovation and social responsibility can go hand in hand. Our aim was not only to initiate structural changes through targeted measures on gender competence, work-life balance, public relations, mentoring and career development, but also to establish a culture of equality and diversity in the long term.
