Sustainable carbons and composites based on lignin and cellulose
Project goals & contents:
The project deals with the development of high value materials like additves, matrices or functional carbons based on bio-based raw materials mainly from industrial residual or subsidiary streams. The project aims at the reduction of fossile based materials and supports the transformation to a sustainable decarbonization in industry.
Based on the development of optimized (Bio-) processe materials with low CO2-footprint shall be produced. In addition, biomass-derived materials even have the potential to act as carbon sinks by sequestering CO2 from the atmosphere and storing it over a longer period of time. This carbon sequestration can ultimately help to mitigate climate change by reducing the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.
