Project goals & contents:
FURPLAST focuses on revolutionising plastic production by harnessing the power of nature. We’re pioneering the use of furcellaran, a natural polysaccharide derived from red seaweed, to create sustainable biobased plastic films (FBBF). Through innovative chemical modifications and advanced production techniques, we aim to develop thermally stable, biodegradable plastic alternatives that mitigate the environmental impact of traditional plastics.
Plastic pollution poses a significant threat to ecosystems and human health. By transitioning to biobased plastics, we can reduce our reliance on fossil fuels, minimise environmental pollution, and promote a more sustainable future. Our project aims to address these pressing challenges by developing innovative solutions that align with global sustainability goals. Join us, and be part of the movement towards a greener, cleaner future. Follow our journey as we pioneer biobased furcellaran plastic production and make a positive impact on the world.
