Circular economy using selected biopolymers as an example (production-processing-recycling)

Project goals & contents:

The project describes a closed cycle for fully biodegradable plastic products with a focus on polyhydroxyalkanoates. The project addresses production from primary raw materials as well as recycled materials. The effects of mechanical and chemical recycling on process control and product quality are being investigated.

The project cooperation is a building block for the development of R&D capacity in the field of circular economy in Upper Austria, setting an example for possible future cooperation through the pooling of expertise.

Competence and expertise in materials research, materials production, materials processing, including process control in the field of fully biodegradable plastics as attractive partners for Upper Austrian industry.
