The consortium meeting for the Project De-and Remanufacturing for Circular Economy Investments in the Composite Industry – DEREMCO was held from 12th – 14th May, 2025 at Messe, Klagenfurt. The DeremCo project aims to establish a Circular Economy solution that will unlock the cost-effective reuse of post-use composite materials and components in new high-added-value products.

Highlights:

Partners across Europe met under the DeremCo initiative to evaluate progress, exchange insights, and align strategic efforts to foster circular economy solutions for post-use composite materials and components. The assembly focused heavily on business models that can drive the sustainable uptake of circular innovations. These discussions addressed the urgent need for viable, scalable frameworks to support the reuse and repurposing of composite materials at the end of their life cycle. We were also excited to meet the winners of the first open call and learn more about their project and early results, an inspiring example of how DeremCo supports practical innovation in the field of circular economy.

Another highlight was the Standardisation Workshop, held on 14th May, 2025. The workshop facilitated in-depth discussions on harmonising methodologies and setting common technical standards that will be essential for enabling broader market adoption and regulatory alignment.

From 14th – 15th May 2025, DeremCo project took part in the CIRPLEX 2025 in Klagenfurt. We were proud to contribute to the program with a dedicated conference session, where Marcello Colledani from Politecnico di Milano, our Project Coordinator, presented the DeremCo vision, objectives, and ongoing results in detail.

Our partner, the Faculty of Polymer Technology, also joined the session, with Maja Mesl offering a concise overview of the project’s impact in Slovenia and beyond. And a special thanks to all the project partners, who exhibited the products from recycled composite materials.

Circularity is not a destination. It is the direction we are already heading.
