The Interreg – Danube Region project “Knowhow Communities for Accelerating Research Technology and Innovation Transfer in the Danube Region (RTIT)” strengthens the innovative capacity of companies.

Project goals & contents:

European cooperation on digital and green transformation in Europe

The RTIT-consortium is led by Tehnopolis in Montenegro and consists of thirteen project partners and nine associated strategic partners along the Danube region. The consortium includes research institutions, universities, clusters and chambers of commerce and ranges from Bayern Innovativ in Germany to the INTERA Technology Park in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the University of Sofia in Bulgaria. The project strengthens cooperation between different countries and regions in line with European cohesion policy and the New Industrial Strategy for Europe. The EU project is scheduled to run for 2.5 years.

The Danube region is home to important companies and research institutions for the production and processing of materials. Improving cooperation in this area is key to realizing the potential for a digital and green transformation.

Tools for knowledge and technology transfer

The project, funded by the EU as part of the Interreg Danube Region Program and co-financed by the Province of Lower Austria, is developing various tools for knowledge and technology transfer to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the field of materials (technologies) in emerging innovation regions in the CEE-region. Trend radars, design thinking and foresight methods are used for this purpose, for example.

Topic leader for bio-based materials

Cooperation between companies and research institutions is important to generate innovations and remain competitive. Wood K plus has many years of experience in industry-related research at three locations, as well as accompanying technological research, making it a topic leader for bio-based materials.
