The Kompetenzzentrum Holz GmbH (Wood K plus) provides research and development services for the industry in the field of wood composite materials and wood chemistry.

In cooperation with our partners from the industry the teams “Mechanical Disintegration” and “Wood Composites & Digital Transformation”, both located at the area Wood Materials and Technologies in Tulln, are looking for a 

Junior researcher for a dissertation (PhD) (f/m)

In close contact to the industry, our teams conduct research within the field of mechanical disintegration as well as in digitization of production processes of wood and engineered wood products.

Your responsibility: 

Your work will be focused on examination of disintegration technologies. Together with partners from industry and science, existing disintegration technologies are analysed and optimized. Thereby basic knowledge for digitization of disintegration processes will be gained. 

  • Optimisation of a test set-up for analysis of disintegration processes
  • Sound spectral analysis 
  • Design of experiments 
  • Evaluation and interpretation of examinations 
  • Presentation of examinations at industry partners and at national and international scientific conferences 
  • Creation of scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals


Your qualification:  

  • University degree (master’s, diploma), preferably in Wood Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics  
  • Experience in the field of signal processing 
  • Experience in the field of data mining techniques (e.g. using MATLAB) 
  • Experience within CNC programming 
  • Good knowledge in spoken and written English
